Biking

Image
Last weekend it was nice enough for a little outside time, and we decided Hannah was ready for a bigger bike.  So Mickey pulled Macy’s old bike out of the shed and away she went.  Now we just need to get used to having Eli on a bike with pedals instead of his balance bike.  “Don’t let go, dad!!!”.

My iron man

Image
A few weekends ago my husband thought it would be fun and challenging to commemorate turning 40 by doing a half iron man race.  This breaks down as follows: Swim: 1.2 miles Bike: 56 miles Run: 13.1 miles I am pretty sure that when I turn 40 I will think of a much more fun and far less taxing way to commemorate the occasion.  But that’s just me. I drove down after the race started, and arrived at some point during his bike ride.  So the first glimpse I had of him was when he came in to the bike area to transition to the run. He was still smiling.  And he was still moving! And saw him again about halfway through the run. Of course he had to stop briefly for his adoring fans. And then, 70.3 miles  and about 6.5 hours later, he finished! We are so proud of you!!

40

Seems like only yesterday that we were “courting” and we celebrated your 30th birthday together. 10 years later and we are still going strong.  At least I am. You, being 40 now, may be noticing some declines in your strength. I was going to apologize for posting your birthday tribute so much later than your actual birthday of May 8th.  But hey, you’re 40 now so you probably forgot what day your birthday is on anyways.  Don’t worry I’ll keep track. You’re 40. 40. 40!!!!!!  You probably shouldn’t do stuff like this anymore:

hannah broke her arm!

Image
Last Friday, about 5 minutes from the end of the last recess of the last day before Christmas break, Hannah slipped from the monkey bars and landed on her hand.  The result: Not the best picture, but she got what is called a colles fracture – when the arm breaks right where it meets the wrist.  Major ouch. Hannah and I spent about 6.5 hours at the ER on Friday.  Super fun. She was a trooper though. A nurse brought her a stuffed elephant and these: The worst parts for me was when I picked her up at school and felt her arm through her sweat shirt and realized it was not the normal shape it should be, when I called my husband to tell him we were on our way to the ER, and when I had to watch the doctor put her bones back in place (which Hannah was not awake for).  I think Hannah’s worst parts were the pain from the break and having to get an IV.  She did not like that one bit!  Her arm is in a splint for 2-3 weeks then we will move to a...
