what 9/11 was like for me…
I was just leaving for work. It was early, but our busy summer season was still in full swing and I was working long hours. As I was heading out the door I went to turn off the television. The news was on and they had one of those “breaking news” reports. They simply said that it appeared a small plane had crashed into a building in New York City. “Stay tuned for more on this developing story”. Just another day in the news. I went to work. By the time I arrived at work, maybe 10 minutes later, everything had changed. I logged onto my computer, quickly finding MSNBC. The headlines were unbelievable. The pictures and video, shocking. All I could do was sit in silence and watch the events unfold online. Co-workers arrived and many did the same thing. There was little talking. Stunned, I had no idea what to do. Do we go home? Do we try to work? Is something else going to happen? The day continued. I realized some people were actually still workin...
