I don’t enter a lot of blog contests. If I have time, sure. If it’s something I really want, sure. If it’s easy as heck to enter, absolutely! So, when Lucy at A Modern Day Ricky and Lucy posted that she was going to give away some of her favorite things and all we had to do was leave a comment, I thought “no-brainer”. I left a comment. I can guess you know what’s next…. Yep! I won!! And now I have some new “favorites” of my own. The kids and I were totally rocking out to that 80’s cd last night. Okay, it was all me. The kids just played along.

We had a lot of fun at Wicked. Great show. Great dinner . After the performance we went to a wine bar near our hotel – their wine/drink menu was nearly 80 pages long! We were slightly overwhelmed by all the choices, but once I found the dessert page I was good to go. I read the book the musical is based on many years back. While watching the show I realized I couldn’t remember how much it followed the book , so I located my copy and have just started reading it again. Sunday morning we had a delicious breakfast at Bacco and walked around Pike Place Market in Seattle for a bit. I bought Eli this shirt: Don’t all babies need a cool rock and roll shirt?

So excited for a night (tonight!) in Seattle with my husband and some good friends. We are going to dinner. We are going to a show. We are spending the night at a hotel. We are NOT bringing the kids. I will share my love of musical theater some other time, but since I have had children I hardly ever go anymore. This will be the first time I’ve seen Wicked and I am going to be pretty much a giddy smiling mess when the curtain rises. I’ll try not to sing too loud.

“We went for a walk and saw some bats! But don’t worry mom, they were NICE bats!”. “We didn’t have any snacks!”. “All the gym teachers left because they had a play date!”. “All that other stuff I said was JUST AN EXPRESSION, mom. Of course we had snacks. We had SMORES!!". She later went on to tell daddy that they had a thunder and lightning storm in the middle of class. I believe we may have a future best-selling fictional author in our midst. But we THINK she had a good day. I can't wait to hear all about day two!

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the Pacific Northwest’s most hard to interview figures. We met for snacks and drinks at our dining room table. Here’s what she had to say: Me: “What is the best part about your day?” H: “Spending it with you”. Me: “Aw, you’re just trying to butter me up now. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?”. H: “Pancakes with syrup and butter!”. Me: “What do you like best about your mom’s blog?” H: “What’s a blog?” Me: “Never mind. What is your favorite place to go in the car?” H: “To Haggen (grocery store) to get a cookie!!” Me: “Um, maybe we go there a little too often. How about this, what is your favorite thing to do outside?” H: “Walk in the snow, eat the snow, make snow angels!” Me: “That sounds nice (for the maybe 6 days of the year we have snow). I am sure all our readers want to know what your favorite game is?” H: “Don’t Break the Ice”. ...

Cute game day outfits? CHECK. Appropriate football game accessories? CHECK. Seats in a crowded stadium? CHECK. A sunny warm (HOT) day? CHECK. Plenty of snacks? CHECK. (She shared). A fun time for all? Errrrr, CHECK???? A winning day? Um, not so much. But hey, at least we had a chance to take a picture of a pig:
