My daughter started pre-school this past Friday.

She will go here in the fall for “official” preschool, so I figured she might enjoy taking their summer camp preschool a couple days a week so she will be fully acclimated and ready for the fall program. 

On her first day she was a little apprehensive, but I assured her I would stay until she felt “comfortable”. 

“Mom”, she would say as we talked about it, “it might take me a little while to get comfortable.  You might need to stay until I talk to a few people”. 

I assured her I would stay. She continued to affirm that I would remain until she was comfortable. 

After we arrived, she nervously exited the car and took my hand, walking with me inside the building. 

We were immediately greeted by a very friendly gal who engaged Hannah and said it was “gym” time!!

Hannah followed after her without so much as a “bye, mom!” or even a glance in my direction. 

I however lingered a few extra minutes, watching her play. 

Turns out, I was the one who needed to get “comfortable”.

Oh, she's such a little girl now! Don't worry. It's likely she might need you around again :-) Jacob did, but he was younger when he started so I'm not sure how that will work out. Either way, I'm glad she liked it so much!

Tears in my eyes!

I plan to put Jillian in pre-school starting in Sept. I can't even imagine my baby leaving me for two days a week.

Aw well at least she took it well. We will work on you:) I think that is a better problem to have. Hope she has fun!

Thanks for the visit. :) I bet she'll love preschool! I sent my 3 year old for the first time this past Fall. She goes 2 days a week. It was a wonderful thing for BOTH of us. ;)

Aww, Mama's little girl isn't so little anymore. I'm glad she was comfortable on her first day of school. Even if Mama was a little apprehensive.

Ohhh..I *so* get this! Today, I dropped Matthew off at summer camp and he ran in and never kissed me goodbye. This...as opposed to last year...when they had to physically unwrap him from my legs!

That's such a cute picture of her. That's a good idea...getting you BOTH used to preschool before it starts this fall. I'm glad she adjusted. So, mom...how did you do? :)

This is what I know will happen with me. My daughter not 'needing' me as much as I think. I'll be the one sitting in the car crying parked next to the school until she's done :)

Sweet. It is such a huge step...preschool. It is amazing how much it stretches a mommy.

What a wonderful time she will have transitioning this summer.

Dear you, Hi there! We haven't met so I thought I would introduce myself.  I am a mom of two, a fifth and a third grader, at the school our kids attend.  You might recognize my car, as you drive by it nearly every day when you pass me (and plenty other parents) 10 minutes before school gets out to park at the very front of the pick up line. In a spot that is not a spot. Genius!  I mean why should you get to school early like many of us other parents do and park appropriately in the pick up lane when you can just come nearly at the last minute, go around a line of 30 vehicles, and park in a spot that is not a spot? Why didn't I think of that? You probably have special circumstances.  I'm sure you think that NOBODY else in the pick up lane,  many of whom have been sitting there waiting for 30-45 minutes have ANYTHING better that they could be doing with their time.
