focus on Books

I love to read although it is not something I have much time to do.  My mom loves to read and she has shared her love of reading with all of her children.

However, she also shares her books!

While I LOVE getting all the latest titles for free, I must admit my “to read” pile is getting a little overwhelming!

And this doesn’t even include the “to read” books I have stashed in my downstairs book shelf!

The “History of Basketball” book you see towards the front of the stack belongs to my husband.

Sometimes he reads too.

And why is Scooby Doo sitting there so stoically guarding the books in my bedroom?

Well, my daughter got a few Scooby’s for Christmas and THIS particular Scooby Doo is holding a flashlight which, if it’s dark and you shake him, shines a light of a ghost on the while while Scooby shakes and goes “I’m scaaaaaaared!”.

Hannah took him to bed one night to “play” with while she was getting ready to go to sleep.

Within 2 hours she was screaming about the ghosts and Scooby has since taken up residence in our room ever since.

But I digress.

If I am ever to catch up on this massive pile of books, I must make my “read” pile a little bit bigger.

Here is what I have read since December:

Wish me luck!

Oh, and I use Goodreads to keep track of what I am reading.  If you are on there, or want to join up, be sure to add me as your friend so I can see what you read too

Ohmygosh! I'm so glad you posted this!!!! I don't feel so bad now, lol!

I have an entire, large bookshelf of "to reads". I love books and used to read voraciously. Until I discovered stamping that is. Now I hardly ever read!!! Plus I used to read when I smoked outside...but I don't smoke anymore - which is a good thing.

The Last Lecture is on my bookshelf too.

OK, that's it. I gotta read more, every day!!! Thank you!

I love to read too but also don't get a lot of time to do it. In fact, I just took the kids to the library last week and I checked out a bunch of books, then laughed at myself for actually thinking I'd get to read them before I'd have to renew them again!

I hope you're able to get some reading done!!

That stack is massive! I wouldn't even know where to start!

My husband makes fun of me because I come home with big stacks of books from the library all the time. I have to carry a bag when I go now!

I'm an avid reader. And not having been able to read since my son came along has been devastating. I know...a bit dramatic but it's been tough. Now I promise to give myself that. I even started a classic novel challenge group to read all those books you skimmed in high school. Good luck and have lots of fun!

Good luck! I wish I can read as much as before blogging.

I love reading too. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could get a full-time job as a reader and get paid for it? I always dream about that.

How did you like The Road? I've been wanting to read it but haven't gotten to it yet.

I love to read, but haven't made the time lately. I need to change that.

I'd love to read if there weren't so many amazing reality shows on. On the wings of love anyone? Anyone? I read blogs and magazines in the bathroom. Entertainment magazines that is. I think that counts.

That is a daunting pile...well, one at a time. And poor Hannah! I guess that Scooby was a little scary for her :(

wow that is a huge pile! I need to make a pile. I have been meaning to head to the library and pick up some new reads. Just haven't quite made it over there.

Oh how I know the feeling of the overwhelming "to read" pile. Haha! I've got more books than I can count just waiting. Good luck!!! =D

It makes me happy to see a stack of books to choose from when it's time to grab another! :)

I like to read but don't have the time. Maybe this year at least I read two books (that's my goal).

I love reading too!! My mom also gives me her books to borrow. But unfortunately my stack is a lot smaller than yours.

It would be awesome to have so many options on hand (public libraries yuck me out).

The last lecture is a great book. You should definitely read it!

You and my neighbor should become friends. She has a whole closet full of books she needs to read. She buys them in bulk on amazon. lol

I love reading and I do wish I had more time.

My 12 year old is a bookworm and as much as I try to encourage him in his passion he insists on owning most of the books he reads so he can re-read them when he's "bored". He is slowly running out of room on his shelves.

you are too funny...especially about Eli's bday!
LOVE THE LAST LECTURE!! Tigger all the way!

How many books are you "focusing on" this year?
RAchel...blog reader is shooting for 100!!!
I'll take claim to MAYBE 10?

Good for you! Reading is so relaxing. My fav place to read is in the bathtub all the time :) Darn, I just want to take that laptop instead ;)

But, when the kids were little, I did not take too many relaxing baths. Things have changed and now I am back to reading :)

I love hand-me-down books. But that pile is just a
bit overwhelming;)

I have been wanting to read The Last Lecture. He was one amazing man.

I am mostly a nonfiction reader. But, I really should stretch myself.

I want to join that Goodreads. Sounds great.

That's why I like to get books for the library so I don't have so many books lying around. However, if I really LOVE the book I have to run out and buy it so yeah, totally understand how they can pile up!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the sweet comment!!

I love meeting other readers! Mine is so bad that I don't even have a "to read" pile anymore, just bookshelves full of books. Now I have a list of 40 books I want to read this year and I already own like 35 of them. Yet, I can't stop buying... agh! Oh well, I love to read! I also started keeping an ongoing list of books I read every year a couple of years ago, it's fun to look back at it!

Wow! And I thought I had a big 'to read' pile!

I think my to read vs read piles rival yours. At least they are of about equal proportions to yours.

Good luck. I am on Goodreads too, but don't really use it much.

Wow you are quite the reader! I would be lucky to read one of those books every couple of months. I just can't make it priority enough. Great job though.

And here I thought my "to read" pile was high! I renew books from the library over and over and over...haha. I have gotten through quite a few books in the past few weeks though- hope you're coming along with yours!
