As most of you don't know because I haven't told you, my husband is fishing this week in some remote corner of northern Canada with his dad and a bunch of other guys. He left Sunday and won't be back until this Sunday.
How remote???
I can't even call him on his CELL PHONE to tell him to make sure he is shaving and brushing his teeth! The travesty!
This is the first time I've been alone with BOTH kids for this length of time, and like anything, the week has had it's ups and downs.
But I like to focus on the positive, so I thought I would recap some of the highlights in my week of being "home alone".
1) Cereal and pancakes for dinner. Enough said.
2) When I watch Glee, I can sing out loud to the songs as much as I want.
3) Blogging? WHENEVER I WANT (when the kids are sleeping or otherwise occupied of course)
4) Leg shaving?? On hiatus for the week. It's raining so it's not like I'm wearing shorts anyways.
5) I have the bed all to myself and without mentioning any names, nobody is here to use their feet to untuck the dang sheets from the bottom of the bed!!!
6) When I open a bottle of wine, it's all mine!
7) Showering? Whenever I get around to it, that's when!
8) First dibs on all the magazines that come in the mail!
9) Nobody here to MAYBE notice if I MAYBE get a package or two in the mail. Which MAY or MAY not be clothes or beauty products. Or books.
10) I am not getting teased about my tendency to laugh out loud when I read funny books. Like Jen Lancaster's My Fair Lazy which I am in the middle of right now.
So, things could definitely be worse. Of course I won't mention that I have to do all the waste management around here (i.e., clean up after the dog), and that I tend to get a bit anxious at night before I go to bed (houses make so much noise). And that I wake up super early every day. And that I miss him.
Sunday, you're only 3 days away!

See!? I like this. Singing, blogging, packages-yes! But careful now- don't be telling potential ax murderers that you are ALONE in the house. They like this sort of info. Don't worry, I can come sing Glee songs with you if needed. And shop.
Enjoy the "perks" of hubby being gone my friend. :) But I'm with you...houses do make so much noise. :(
have a fun time.. It is nice to have some alone time..
When my husband is gone I do the same thing at night also..
Ha ha! I love #4 and #5!!
My hubs always untucks the sheets from the bottom of the bed and it drives me nuts!!
My husband would KILL for a trip like that. I would do the same thing with the Glee episodes, the shaving, and definitely the packages. In fact, I do do the same thing with the packages! LOL
I love breakfast for dinner. We had French Toast and omelets last night--heaven!
No pictures? hehe. I like your attitude. I would be so miserable without my Hubby for a week.
I love alone time every so often. My days sound remarkably like yours.
I do think I embarrassed my wife this week when I was singing Marky Mark's Good Vibrations when Glee was on.
Those are all great!! Often when my husband is gone it's like a mini vaca for me.
sounds like you are surviving well..good job looking at the positives...it will pass quicker that way. smiles.
LOL I thought I was the only one that sang out loud to Glee when I was by myself...I sing really horribly.
I always look forward to the nights my husband is gone at school but then when they arrive I end up missing him :(
Keep having fun and Sunday will be here so fast :)
I hear ya sister! As much as I love my hubby and miss him when he is not home, there is just something magical about having the house to myself! Reagan and I usually tend to act quite goofy and silly when it's just us girls home alone!
Cereal is about the maximum amount of effort put into dinner when Jason is gone too. Maybe Lean Cuisine. I have to let the dog sleep in the bed with me when Jason's gone though...I can't sleep alone!
Funny, funny, funny. Definitely relate to the cereal and pancakes for dinner part. And the singing out loud. Just a few more days!
I get nervous at bedtime too when my husband is away....and I shove a chair up against the basement door so no one can break in from downstairs!
LOL There are definitely perks that go along with a hubby that is out of town. But I am sure that you do miss him. :) Enjoy your kiddos, pamper yourself and prepare for his return. :) You may want to shower and shave your legs an hour before he is expected to get home. :) That day, I am sure you won't might sharing that bottle of wine or the untucked sheets. ;)
I do see some very serious positives here!
How funny. We are the same way when it comes to sleeping alone. I have a hard time without my hubby around at night.
Speaking of packages being delivered, I had all of mine delivered to work. They'd remain in the trunk of my car until the husband left for work. I don't know why I bother to do it. He notices every single purchase. EVERY ONE! I also eat bad food when he's not here.
I like the idea of easy dinner, blogs, singing, ahhh peace. Enjoy the rest of the week.
BTW, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
You won my giveaway. Please let me know the theme and for when you need the birthday treat bags.
I have the same love/hate relationship with my husband being out of town! Everything is fine until I try to go to bed and then every little house creak is someone breaking in to the house!
Canada and their cell phone reception....well, there is not cell service in many parts of our town and I don't consider us remote at all, lol. We just have sucky service.
Week without the hubs is like little mini vacation. One less kid to take care of.
isn't it funny to be sans beloved? It's great for a while but even with the kids noise it's too quiet.. and too clean... and too lonely.
welcome to life as a single mom. ha!
Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some up sides, some of which you mentioned. It ain't all bad. Believe me.
Kyle was in Suncadia (Cle Elum) from Tuesday to Friday so I totally get ya on the no leg shaving, bed all to myself thing. ;0) Sounds like it's been a nice week of somewhat relaxation. =)
Sounds like your own little vacation:) Way to be positive!
