Aloha friday #10

alohafriday

Welcome to May 1st and Aloha Friday!  Hope you all had a great week.  Aloha Friday is a great way to learn more about each other.  If you want to play along, please leave your answer in my comments and visit An Island Life.

My question this week:

What do you do to keep active and healthy?

I try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week, along with weight training a couple times a week.  I also just started going to a pilates class on Saturday’s and that has been fun to try.  I do my best to eat sensibly most of the time.  And chasing the kids around keeps me pretty active too.

Have a great weekend!

uh.......nothing? I'm ashamed to admit that I do very little. I use my treadmill once in a while but I have horrible eating habits in the winter and don't get too much exercise. I need to get better about it.

Well...I'm in pre-training for a marathon, so right now I'm running 5 miles three times a week to get in shape for training. Other than that...I have pretty bad eating habits.

I don't do enough, that's for sure. I've started taking walks around lunch time when it's the hottest here in FL so I sweat more. I have a treadmill that I've used a couple times. I do need to lose weight and eat better.

I do a bootcamp workout three mornings a week for an hour eachtime and then I walk/jog the other days for about four miles. I have also changed my eating habits drastically. It is a new way of life I have follwed for the last 9 months and I have lost just over 40 pounds and really toned up! i love the results which is my motivation to keep going because some days it is rally hard! lol

I think you know my answer already! I have to admit I'm a bit of an exercise junkie. I'd be happy if I could work out 2 hours every day. But for most days I settle for 40 min of cardio (running or swimming) and 2 days a week of weights. 4-5 days I do a round of streching and calisthenics. And playing with jacob at the park.

I finally found exercise DVDs that I love. I have been working out with Leslie Sansone 6-7 days a week. I mix it up and do different ones that put focus on items. I also bought a pedometer to keep track of my activity during the day.

Me too! I try to work out 5-6 days a week and eat okay, and stay active with the kids. Luckily, I love to run!

I chase my kids around and carry my son around the house when he's sad. He is one heavy little boy - lol.

I try to make our meals as nutritious as possible. I keep the kids active, myself on the other hand is another story! I am going to physio, in hopes of being able to someday take walks again!

I am a member at Jazzercise and a local gym. I TRY to go as much as possible. I dont have a reliable sitter so I cant bring them. Jazzercise is moving so I have not been able to get to ANY gym in over a week. We have such a crazy schedule with 4 kids and I need to make more time for myself. By the time it is MY Turn (9pm) to do something, I am too tired. It is pathetic. I have hashimotos and I NEED to get more fit. I am more fit since starting all of this back in Oct but I NEED ME TIME.
I have wii fit but get yelled at by the baby when I even attempt it. I have the P90X but have yet to try that too... I need diet help. I love the food I love... and dont know how I will live without it!

Embarrassingly, nothing right now. I have been a but overwhelmed with the change from one kid to two. Recently we have been getting out every day for a few hours so that my 3 year old can get some of his energy out. Chasing his around while having a 4 month old strapped to me or in a stroller is a little bit of exercise, but not as much as I probably need.

I'm bad and do nothing. I love yoga but have a hard time finding time to do it.

Well... every week I shoot for 2 bodypump classes....one of which I teach. Also teach the Mommy and Me class 3 times/per....which is 35 minutes of step aerobics and sculting for 20 minutes. We also try to have "dance party" during the day for at least 10-15 minutes...where I turn up the radio, and dance with my boys.
I've been working on Zumba...practicing about 3 hours this week...hoping to add it to the teaching mix in a few weeks.
There's always walking too...at least 2-3 times a week we'll take a little "evening walk" with the family!
We all have 24 hours....just pick an hour and do it!

oh gosh, I have become such a slug!

I tore tendons in my shoulder 3 months ago and 5 weeks ago I stopped all exercise...now, i need to pick things up a bit.

I like the way you describe your exercise without being grumbly.

I feel a bit inspired by your optimism!

I work out at the gym 6-7 days a week. It's just a part of my routine.

Yay for Pilates! It was pretty difficult today - lots and lots of planks.

Walk and ride my bike. However, I have not been able to do since my biopsy. Suppose to be able to start back today. But now I feel kinda lazy lol.

I work out at the gym. I try to get there M-F, but don't always succeed (like this week - ahh!). I also *try* to eat healthy, but it seems that when I'm not working out, I eat like crap and when I am working out, I eat a lot better. It's a daily struggle. lol

I also like taking Chewy to different dog parks. The one at Everett Beach is quite a hike so I get my exercise there. lol
